Autumn Ball 2007 ChairmenLenox Hill Hospital's Autumn Ball 2007 Celebrates 150 Years of Service & Raises a Record Breaking $3.1 Million Dollars

A milestone 150th anniversary celebration, record-setting fundraising and an elegantly decorated ballroom were the highlights of the 2007 Autumn Ball.

For nearly a century, the Autumn Ball has been regarded as one of the season’s most glamorous events, and this year was no exception.

More than 1,100 guests packed the glittering Waldorf-Astoria’s Grand Ballroom to raise a record-breaking $3.1 million dollars and to salute the hospital on its century and a half of service to the New York City community.

The ballroom – resplendent with towering floral displays of red roses and aglow with shimmering white candles and crystal – was the perfect setting to celebrate this historic evening.

“We have been in existence for 150 years, never closing our doors once in that entire time period,” said Gladys George, President and CEO of Lenox Hill Hospital.

Autumn Ball 2007 RoomThe festivities began with a special video greeting from Matthew Broderick, who, along with his wife Sarah Jessica Parker, served as honorary chairs of the evening.

“This is quite an impressive birthday,” he said. “Lenox Hill Hospital is very important to this city,” he noted adding that he and his wife shared one of the happiest moments of their lives at the hospital when their son was born at Lenox Hill.

A video tribute of the Hospital’s rich history celebrating the doctors, staff, volunteers, auxillians, trustees and benefactors was then presented, followed by special champagne toasts given by Gladys George, President and CEO; William Hiltz, Chairman of the Board and Chitranjan Ranawat, MD, Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Proceeds from the Autumn Ball, the largest and most important annual fundraising event of the Hospital, are earmarked for the Hospital’s medical services and community programs.
