In 1990, he transferred to North Shore University Hospital as an assistant administrator and in 1992 was promoted to executive director of the Stern Family Center for Rehabilitation, a 256-bed nursing care facility. Under his direction, the Stern Family Center had deficiency-free inspections for five consecutive years from the New York State Department of Health – an exceptional distinction in the field – and received consistently high scores from The Joint Commission.

Mr. Connors succeeds Frank Danza, who has been appointed senior vice president and chief revenue officer for the North Shore-LIJ Health System.

In his new position, Mr. Danza will work to develop strategies to assure the appropriateness and completeness of inpatient and outpatient revenues, create complete documentation and coding to support accurate reporting on the severity of patient illnesses and risk of mortality, and support the redesign and creation of patient access capabilities. His areas of focus and leadership will include core revenue cycle operations for the NS-LIJ hospitals and Physician and Ambulatory Network Services (PAANS) and case management/care model development. He will also contribute to the strategic development and design of risk retention capabilities and accountable care organization (ACO) for the health system.
