NEW YORK – On Sunday, April 22, 2012, North Shore-LIJ Health System – the City Parks Foundation’s first ever Sports & Fitness Program Signature sponsor – will join the foundation and the New York Road Runners in the annual Run for the Parks race. The event, which will take place in Central Park and officially kick off New York City’s running season, will feature a four-mile adult race at 8a.m. followed by a kids’ race at 9a.m. Proceeds from this event help to support City Parks Foundation’s free programs.
Starting at 7a.m. and throughout the entire event, Lenox Hill Hospital will offer services, information and entertainment to the runners and other attendees in a tent located at the Bandshell Plaza in Central Park. Visitors will be offered raffles, free blood pressure screenings and pocket-sized sunscreen. A clown will be on hand to entertain the children with balloons, juggling and magic tricks. Hospital staff will be available to answer questions and offer information about services and programs available at Lenox Hill Hospital, Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital and throughout the North Shore-LIJ Health System.
