Lenox Hill Hospital and New Yorkers For Children hosted a unique career panel in January for over 100 young people in foster care who are interested in a career in the field of health care. Outcomes for youth aging out of foster care are generally poor, with approximately 25% of the population becoming homeless and the overwhelming majority of individuals ill prepared for finding sustainable employment opportunities. Michael Dowling, President and Chief Executive Officer of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, participated in the workshops and panel discussions aimed to help these individuals find employment that leads to self sufficiency and life-long success.
