Lenox Hill Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in obstetrics and gynecology, general and vascular ultrasound services from the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR's Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
"We are pleased to be accredited by the ACR," said Neal Epstein, MD, Chairman of the Radiology Department. "Our total score was 99.83%, this assures our patients that they are receiving the highest quality of care as the staff and the equipment in our Ultrasound section have passed the ACR's rigorous evaluation."
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists & radiation oncologists.
