Paresh C. Shah, MD FACS, a leader in minimally invasive surgery had been named Director of Laparoscopic Services at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dr. Shah comes to Lenox Hill Hospital from The Lahey Clinic in Massachusetts, where he served as Director of the Minimal Access Surgery and Technology Center and as Director of The Center for Surgical Obesity.
He earned his medical degree in 1991 from The State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, NY and completed his internship at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. After a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, he completed his residency in General Surgery at The Lahey Clinic in 1999. He was been a member of the faculty of Tufts University Medical School as an Assistant Professor of Surgery.
Dr. Shah's clinical interests include advanced laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery for morbid obesity and robotic surgery. He has worked extensively in the development of new technology and instrumentation for the operating room, as well as, for the overall health care environment.
He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the American Medical Association.
He lives in Greenwich, Connecticut.
