Lenox Hill Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
"Having the latest diagnostic tools and skilled personnel is integral to ensuring that patients at Lenox Hill Hospital receive efficient and first-class quality healthcare," stated Neal F. Epstein, MD, Chairman, Radiology Department. "We see over 5000 patients a year and that number is expected to double with recent renovations to the Radiology Department."
Lenox Hill Hospital's Radiology department is now one of the most technologically advanced departments in the tri state area. Its state of the art technology includes 3T MRI, 64 slice CT, PET-CT, SPECT-CT and 4Dultrasound. Its digital imaging system provides instant images to clinicians anywhere. This state of the art facility is supervised by a highly qualified team of radiologists and imaging professionals.
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of the facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR?s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
