Lenox Hill Hospital Opens New, Expanded Radiology Center

June 1, 2006

Lenox Hill Hospital's Department of Radiology recently opened its $30 million, 16,500 square-foot outpatient and inpatient imaging department.

The newly designed imaging department is equipped with the latest digital imaging technology and has been planned to provide greater patient comfort and privacy. Reduced waiting times and rapid results combined with spacious private changing rooms and comfortable waiting areas help make the experience more comfortable for patients and their families.

"We are extremely proud of the tremendous strides Lenox Hill Hospital has taken in becoming one of the premier providers of quality, outpatient and inpatient diagnostic imaging," says Neal Epstein, MD, Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Highlights include:

  • The only SPECT-CT in the Northeastern United States. This combination high-end, fast acquisition 16 slice CT and SPECT gamma camera, allows physicians to see inside the body in great detail. This new system will greatly improve diagnosis and treatment for orthopaedics, oncology, infectious disease and other clinical indications.
  • A new 64 slice CT scanner - one of the most highly advanced computerized imaging technologies available today. The machine is so fast, it can obtain precise images of a beating heart and view coronary arteries, as well as, take images of all parts of the human body.
  • New ultra high field 3.0 Tesla MRI - performs studies with greatly improved diagnostic image quality in half the time of conventional MRI's.
  • State of the art filmless imaging and digital report technologies - enables physicians to access the images instantly from any location either inside or outside the hospital.
