NEW YORK -- Lenox Hill Hospital, which recently joined the North Shore-LIJ Health System as its Manhattan flagship hospital, today announced the appointment of its new senior leadership team:
Philip P. Rosenthal, MS, MBA, has been appointed the hospital’s executive director, responsible for executing day-to-day operations. He has been with Lenox Hill Hospital since 1980, most recently as chief administrative officer. He first served as assistant administrator of the Hospital’s Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma, the first hospital-based center for the study of sports medicine in the United States. He was instrumental in establishing the Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute and later was appointed executive director of Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. “Considering Phil’s dedication and commitment to the hospital, its staff and physicians, nobody is more prepared to lead Lenox Hill Hospital as we enter the coming decade,” said Michael Dowling, president and chief executive officer of North Shore-LIJ.
Anthony C. Antonacci, MD, will join the Hospital as medical director, effective November 1. Dr. Antonacci comes to Lenox Hill Hospital from Christ Hospital, Jersey City, NJ, where he most recently served as senior vice president for clinical affairs and chief medical officer/chief quality officer. Dr. Antonacci, a board-certified surgeon and clinical associate professor of surgery, holds a master’s degree in healthcare management from the Harvard School of Public Health. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical College. “We are delighted to welcome Dr. Antonacci to Lenox Hill Hospital. His impressive leadership abilities and expertise in both clinical medicine and healthcare management will help further our mission and define our role in providing outstanding patient care,” said Mr. Rosenthal.
Michael Breslin, CPA, will continue to serve as the hospital’s chief financial officer. His responsibilities include financial reporting, patient financial services, accounts payable, payroll, financial planning and decision support. Mr. Breslin came to Lenox Hill Hospital in 2005 from Ernst & Young, where he was a partner for four years. He has vast experience in all aspects of healthcare finances.
Phyllis Yezzo, RN, serves as the hospital’s chief nurse executive. Ms. Yezzo joined Lenox Hill Hospital in 2001, as assistant vice president of quality and patient safety and since 2006 served as vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer. She is responsible for all nursing care in clinical and nonclinical areas at the Hospital’s two campuses.
