Lenox Hill Hospital has announced that Reverend Wilfredo Rodriguez has been appointed to be the new Director of Pastoral Care and serve as Hospital Chaplain effective October 16.

In this position Reverend Rodriguez is responsible for providing spiritual and religious support to patients, their families and hospital employees of all faith traditions. He will also facilitate and enhance the efforts of local clergy and pastoral care volunteers as they visit patients at Lenox Hill Hospital. Rev. "Reverend Rodriguez brings to Lenox Hill Hospital a profound level of pastoral experience and leadership that will greatly benefit our patients, their families and our hospital staff." said Gladys George, Lenox Hill Hospital President and CEO. "It is so important to have pastoral care as an integral component of the total healthcare we provide at Lenox Hill and we are thrilled to have Rev. Rodriguez join our current chaplain, Rabbi Ralph Kreger in providing supportive spiritual care to the Lenox Hill Hospital community."

As Director, Rev. Rodriguez is responsible for leading the pastoral care services that Lenox Hill Hospital offers to patients, their families and hospital employees, including: one-on-one pastoral care, hospital-wide services for a variety of religions, prayer and memorial services, communication with a patient's local clergy; and grief support for individuals or groups.

He also served as counselor and spiritual leader in the Mortuary Affairs Unit. His previous medals were for outstanding service as chaplain to Marines and Sailors and for organizing humanitarian food and comfort items for an Iraqi orphanage.
