Gady Har-El, MD, FACS, has been appointed to the position of Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital effective March 1 2007.
A nationally and internationally renowned otolaryngologist/head and neck surgeon, Dr. Har-El joined Lenox Hill Hospital in 2005 after serving as Chief of Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology at Long Island College Hospital.
Dr. Har-El received his medical degree in 1982 from Ben-Gurion University School of Medicine in his native Israel and did his post graduate training at SUNY-Health Science in Brooklyn, NY.
An accomplished physician, surgeon, researcher, and teacher, Dr. Har-El is widely recognized for clinical and academic achievements in head and neck surgery as well as skull base and sinus surgery. He is well known for developing and refining minimally invasive procedures for sinus and skull base tumor resection.
He currently serves as the President of The American Broncho-Esophagological Association, one of the 9 major national otolaryngology sub- specialty societies. He is the Past President of the New York Head and Neck Society and the New York Laryngological Society, Past Council Member of the Triological Society, current Executive Board Member of the North American Skull Base Society, and Chairman of numerous committees including the Committee on Skull Base Surgery in the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Har-El has authored more than 240 scientific papers and book chapters and edited four books and monographs on otolaryngology, skull base and sinus surgery.
A frequently invited speaker in the United States and abroad, Dr. Har-El has also been listed in the Best Doctors of New York, America's Top Doctors and America's Top Doctors for Cancer since 1994.
He resides with his wife Dr. Rivi Har-El, who has a PhD in physical therapy and their two sons in Jamaica Estates.
