Lenox Hill Hospital was ranked among the nation's top hospitals in Heart and Heart Surgery, Digestive Disorders, and Neurology and Neurosurgery by U.S. News and World Report in its 2009 annual "America's Best Hospitals" survey.
Of the 4,861 hospitals in the nation, Lenox Hill Hospital is one of only 174 prominent hospitals, or about 3 percent, to be ranked in at least one of 16 specialties.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the rankings offer "a tool for patients who need medical sophistication that most facilities simply cannot offer." They explain that the hospitals are not graded on routine procedures but rather on "how they do in complex and demanding situations."
Lenox Hill Hospital, located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, is a 652-bed, fully accredited, acute care hospital with a national reputation for providing the highest quality patient care, training new physicians and contributing to progress in research.
