New York Magazine recognized 90 Lenox Hill Hospital and Lenox Hill – Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Institute physicians as among New York City's finest in its 2009 "New York Best Doctors" feature.
This year's listing included several Lenox Hill Hospital department chairs among the best for interventional cardiology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology/head and neck surgery, surgery and plastic surgery. In addition, Lon Weiner, MD, Chief of Orthopaedic Trauma at Lenox Hill was profiled in the magazine’s “My First Time” feature, where he talks about the first time he had to amputate a patient’s leg.
The magazine's list is drawn from data gathered by Castle Connolly, a New York City research and information company, for its most recent annual guidebook, Top Doctors: New York Metro Area. These doctors 1,107 this year – represent the top 20 percent of the top 10 percent (that is, the top 2 percent) of New York–area physicians, as determined by Castle Connolly. Criteria for selection include training, clinical skills, intrapersonal skills, education, residency, board certification, professional reputation and other factors.
