Visitation Guidelines

Lenox Hill Hospital fosters a care environment that is supportive of a patient’s relationship with their family, significant others, and friends. Care is provided in a patient-centered atmosphere that is respectful, supportive, and mindful of the important role visitors play in a patient’s well being.

Visitors are welcome during a patient’s stay with us. Patients may choose who can and cannot visit without regard to legal relationship, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. Limits on visitation are sometimes needed depending on a patient’s medical condition. Other reasons for limiting visiting may include, but are not limited to:

  • If the patient request restrictions or limitations.
  • If there are safety concerns such as risk of infection.
  • If visiting interferes with the care of other patients. This includes the need for rest or privacy.
  • An existing court order that restricts contact.
  • Visitors who are disruptive, threatening, or violent.
  • Patients in a substance abuse/mental health treatment program that has limited visiting.

Visitor presence and support is important. We thank our visitors for their partnership in caring.
