We are delighted that you are seeking information about the Northshore/LIJ Health System at Lenox Hill Hospital (LHH) Internal Medicine program. Our vision for Lenox Hill Hospital Internal Medicine is to train people to deliver the best care available in the safest environment imaginable. Some of the features that make Lenox Hill Hospital a great place to grow as a young physician are:

  • A well articulated and coordinated quality and patient safety methodology.
  • A unique curriculum, "Practice of Medicine in the 21st Century" (PM21), covers High Value Care, Evidence Based Medicine, Quality and Safety, and Clinical Reasoning in a lively interactive format.
  • The dedication of both full-time and voluntary attendings to formal and informal resident teaching.
  • The presence of medical students from our medical school at Hofstra University, New York Medical College, SUNY Downstate School of Medicine as well as PA and Pharmacy students. EVERY RESIDENT AT LENOX HILL IS GIVEN THE SKILLS TO TEACH AND TO EVALUATE.
  • A 96% American Board of Internal Medicine Certifying exam pass rate and a 92% three year average.
  • State of the art diagnostic and therapeutic facilities.
  • Strong in-house fellowship opportunities as well as an excellent record of placement in other top programs nationally.
  • Ample opportunities for clinical research and literally scores of award winning abstracts presented at regional and national meetings.
  • A unique emphasis on resident participation in community service.
  • Diverse patient population with a broad range of pathology seen at every stage of each illness.
  • Large single-site training program with more than a dozen faculty mentors gives us a personalized small program feel.
  • Unparalleled camaraderie among housestaff who work hard together, as they each teach and learn from one another.

Residents continue their friendships both outside the hospital and throughout their careers. We hope you will take the opportunity to learn as much about our program as possible and see why our graduates around the country are so proud to say they trained at Lenox Hill.
