Application process

The Department of Medicine accepts applications to the three year Categorical and one year Preliminary Internal Medicine Residency programs only through ERAS, the Electronic Residency Application Service sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Please note that paper applications are not accepted. Please include the following supporting materials with your ERAS application:

• USMLE scores
• Three letters of recommendation
• Personal Statement
• Dean's Letter

The Program is open to all applicants, including Doctors of Osteopath (DO) and International Medical Graduates (IMG). Only J1 visas for international applicants are currently sponsored.

Although all applicants are reviewed for individual merit, the following criteria are generally preferred:

• USMLE Medical Knowledge Steps 1 and/or 2 scores above 200/82 on the first attempt
• A passing score on Step2/Clinical Skills Assessment on the first attempt
• Medical school graduation within the past 5 years
• U.S. clinical experience preferred

Applicants may only apply the Categorical or Preliminary track. Interviews will be conducted on designated weekday mornings, by invitation, starting in mid- November through January. A rank list will be prepared and submitted to the National Residency Matching Program at the required time. All positions are filled through the Match.
