Day of the Surgery

Preparation for your procedure begins the evening before your scheduled surgery. Please review the following instructions carefully

  • Make sure you review the medication precautions and alert your surgeon if you have been taking any of these medications.
  • Do not eat or drink anything after midnight on the evening prior to your surgery. If you mistakenly eat or drink, your procedure may be cancelled or delayed. It is okay to take your morning medications with a small sip of water.
  • The exact time of your surgery is not set until the day before your procedure. The hospital will call you the evening prior to your surgery to let you know what time to arrive.
  • When you show up at the hospital, go to the registration desk on the first floor. From there, you will be checked in and prepared for surgery. Your family will be able to accompany you until you are brought up to the second floor for surgery.
  • You must be accompanied by an adult who will take you home after the procedure. You will not be allowed to leave the hospital without a responsible adult.
  • Please write down your family or contact's cell phone number and give it to your surgeon prior to the surgery.
