Located at Lenox Hill Hospital's 64th Street Campus (formerly Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital), the Lenox Hill Hospital Plastic Surgery Clinic is run by the Lenox Hill Hospital Aesthetics Teaching Service. This program is organized and administered by Dr. Norman H. Schulman and Dr. Sherrell J. Aston.
The service consists of three graduate Fellows who have completed their Plastic Surgery residencies and two Chief Plastic Surgical Residents who are completing their residency programs.
Each Fellow is a fully trained plastic surgeon who was selected to further their training under some of the most prestigious plastic surgeons in the world. These master surgeons supervise the work of all Fellows and Residents.
Additionally, the Teaching Service holds a daily clinic offering aesthetic surgery consultations from Monday through Thursday.
As part of an educational initiative, the hospital discounts available operating room time to allow the Teaching Service to operate at a significantly reduced price for the general public.
The fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital was started in the 1940's under the direction of Dr. Gustave Aufricht, whom many consider to be the father of American Plastic Surgery for introducing to American physicians techniques such as the face lift, rhinoplasty, and breast reduction. Dr. Edgar Berry continued this legacy by forming the Plastic Surgery residency program in the 1960's.
In 1975, Dr. Tom Rees, a legendary plastic surgeon largely considered to be one of the pioneers of cosmetic surgery as the world knows it today, began the Plastic Surgery Fellowship Program at the former Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. Dr. Sherrell Aston continued in the tradition of the teaching and education of aesthetic surgery when he took over as Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital in 1992.
Today, the program is stronger than ever, attracting fellows from prestigious institutions around the country. The fellow's clinic offers a unique opportunity for patients to have high quality plastic surgery procedures performed at a significantly reduced price.
