There are a significant number of New York City school children who are challenged by serious learning disabilities and attention disorders. However, a great many of them never get the help they need. While New York City schools are committed to helping as many students as possible, they often fall short, despite their best efforts. Unfortunately, many students are assessed incorrectly, placed in classroom settings that don’t address their educational needs or simply fall through the cracks. The Center for Attention and Learning was created to help NYC children, particularly those from low-income families, obtain comprehensive evaluations in order to identify their specific learning needs. At the center, we provide a thorough evaluation to pinpoint the true nature of a child’s learning disability. Once we understand why a child is struggling in school we make recommendations to address the child's learning issues and obtain the help they need. We don’t consider our work complete until a child has appropriate educational support.

Our training program provides a comprehensive approach, giving the trainee exposure to neuropsychological assessment, educational advocacy, and current research and trends in the field. CAL has a number of ways to help you help the children you treat.
In 2010 and 2011, Lenox Hill Hospital was awarded a leadership grant from the Robin Hood Foundation for The Center for Attention and Learning (CAL). The grant allows CAL to provide services for educational organizations funded the Robin Hood Foundation throughout the New York metropolitan area.
