Division of Clinical Cardiology

Phone: (212) 434-2170

Director: Neil L. Coplan, MD
Assistant Director: Richard T. Kutnick, MD

The Division of nical Cardiology is focused on providing state-of-the-art cardiovascular care to the patients of Lenox Hill Hospital, ranging from acute care medicine in the Cardiac Care Unit to non-invasive cardiac testing. In addition, the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine includes an excellent cardiovascular fellowship program which is involved in training future generations of cardiovascular specialists.

Coronary Care Unit

The Lillian and Sol Goldman Family Cardiac Care Center is the center for acute cardiac care at Lenox Hill Hospital. The unit is staffed by dedicated cardiac physicians 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a nursing staff highly trained to deal with cardiac emergency care.

The coronary care unit coordinates care with the emergency room and the other cardiac services, including the Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology Laboratories.

Electrophysiology Laboratory

Lenox Hill Hospital has a state-of—the-art electrophysiology laboratory for evaluation of patients with arrhythmia of the heart. The specially-trained electrophysiologists perform diagnostic studies, perform therapeutic ablations, and insert both pacemakers and implantable defibrillators.

Non-invasive Laboratories

The Non–Invasive Echocardiography Laboratory provides a wide- range of diagnostic cardiac services to evaluate heart function, heart valve function, and other structural abnormalities of the heart. Tests performed by our group of highly-trained physicians include standard echocardiography, transesophogeal echocardiography, and exercise echocardiography.

The Nuclear Exercise Laboratory tests patients to determine the presence of coronary disease. Tests which may be ordered include standard exercise testing, nuclear exercise testing, and pharmacological testing for patients who can not exercise.

The Electrocardiographic Laboratory performs or interprets hundreds of standard electrocardiograms and ambulatory electrocardiograms each week.
