Lenox Hill Hospital is renowned for its exceptional obstetrical service with approximately 4000 deliveries per year. Mothers and their newborns receive special care in the Florence Selwyn Klopfer Family-Centered Maternity Care Unit which consists of 11 modern LDRs (labor, delivery, and recovery rooms), a postpartum floor with a modified rooming-in system, well baby nurseries, and a Level 111 Neonatal Critical Care Unit which together make the Maternal-Child Health service a Center of Excellence for the hospital.
The Center for Maternal-Fetal Medicine is one of the most comprehensive of its kind in New York City. Staffed with board certified and internationally known Perinatologists, services for prospective parents include high risk consultations, amniocentesis, chorionic villi sampling, nuchal translucency, sonographic evaluation at all gestational ages and other methods of fetal assessment such as Doppler studies and non-stress tests. Genetic counseling and chromosomal blood tests are available for parents with history of genetic diseases. This service also includes co-management of gestational diabetes and other high risk conditions together with the patients general obstetrician. 3-D and 4-D images are made available for parents on CD for entertainment purposes.

The Department of Gynecology offers a full range of services for the management of all gynecological problems. These services include laparoscopic, laser and robotic procedures, diagnosis and treatment of breast, ovarian, cervical, or uterine cancers; infertility workup; treatment for fibroids and endometriosis, and colposcopy for diagnosing abnormal cervical cells. The department also provides evaluation and treatment of menopausal conditions, osteoporosis and urological/gynecological disorders such as incontinence and uterine prolapse.
With a strong emphasis on medical research, the Department engages in numerous investigational projects throughout the year which lead to several publications by residents and faculty in well known medical journals.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is totally committed to providing quality care while increasing patient satisfaction. The nursing staff, faculty and residents have received special training to enhance ones experience at this institution.
