Members of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery team will be there to guide you before, during and after your surgery.
Ms. O’Flaherty serves as the Nursing Director for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery inpatient unit, as well as the Assistant Director of Nursing and Nursing Education Coordinator for Lenox Hill Hospital. She has extensive post-graduate training and over 25 years of experience in both clinical and administrative nursing. Specifically, she is responsible for the overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care on the unit. Her goal is to create a patient focused caring environment and to promote collaboration and respect among all caregivers in the department. She has been instrumental in the coordination of pre-operative education classes for patients preparing for total joint replacement.
Ms. Greiz currently serves as the Clinical Coordinator of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy at Lenox Hill Hospital. She has over twenty years of experience as a physical therapist, and has worked at Lenox Hill Hospital since 1994. Ms. Greiz currently directs inpatient orthopaedic physical therapy services for preoperative, postoperative, and nonoperative care of our patients. She participates in the pre-operative education classes for patients preparing for total joint replacement. She is also active in the education of the nursing staff and families of patients on the proper care and assistance of orthopaedic surgery patients. In her role, Ms. Greiz advocates for a collaborative culture in which all members of the orthopaedic surgery team, the patient, and family work together to create the optimal environment for effective rehabilitation of our patients.
Ms. Verni is Chief Physician Assistant in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. Ms. Verni earned her PA degree in 1996 from Cornell University Medical College and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Her 15 years of orthopaedic surgery experience include 12 years of clinical service. In her present role since 2008, she and her team participate in the provision of patient care in a variety of hospital settings, and play an active role in communicating with patients and their families regarding their care. Ms. Verni participates in Patient Safety Rounds, serves on committees including Performance Improvement and the Orthopaedic Surgery Service Line, conducts post-credentialing professional practice evaluations of hospital-based and private physician assistants in the department, and coordinates physician assistant student rotations.
